The T-mob plan has two options. The “Pay by the Day” plan and the “Pay as you Go” plan.

The Pay by the day plan costs you $1 per day and ten cents a minute. With this plan you receive unlimited night calling (7 pm to 7 am) and unlimited calling to T-Mobile cellular phone numbers.

The T-Mobile “Pay as you Go” plan charges different minute rates depending on how much you spend. The larger denomination cards give you more minutes per dollar spent. If you add a $10 unit card you will pay 33 cents a minute. With the $25 card you will pay 19.5 cents a minute. With the $50 minute card you pay 12.5 cents a minute. If you buy a $100 card you will get 10 cent units.

In my opinion the Best Pre pay Yearly Mobile Yearly Cell Plan is the the Track phone prepaid $200 3,000 minute (with DMFL) plan. This is only offered from Tracfone.com. This plan gets you the best per minute price for prepaid cell phone plans at 6.6 cents a minute.

The $100 per year Track phone plan is a pretty good deal also but the units are more expensive at 12.5 cents a minute.

Net10 prepaid wireless yearly units are ten cents each and your yearly charge will be $200.

The T-Mobile Yearly Plan is simple. You buy the $100 minute card and your service will stay active for up to 12 months as long as you do not run out of minutes. The units will cost 10 cents. If you add smaller than $100 refill cards you will pay up to 33 cents a minute. You only get the ten cent per minute rate if you buy $100 at a time.

The Best Prepaid Yearly Cell Plan from Tracfone gives you a lot of flexibility. If you do not use all of your units they will roll over if you keep your service active. If you have a lot of units left over you can buy $20 phone cards that will give you three months of service. If you run out of units you can always add minute cards and pay between 6.6 cents and 17 cents a minute with DMFL.

If you are on any of the Verizon Prepaid Plans you can get the Message Bundle Plans. For $20 per month you get Unlimited Messaging. For $10 per month you get unlimited texting to Verizon Wireless phones and 250 additional messages. If you go over the 250 you will pay 20 cents per message with the Basic plan, 10 cents with the 99 cent plan, 5 cents with the 199 plan, and 1 cent with the 399 Unlimited plan.

How do I change my Phone number with Tracfone?

You will have to call Tracfone Customer Service if you want to change your phone number. Sometimes you will not be able to get a local number with your current phone. Where I live in Montana At&t and other GSM phones do not have very good coverage so Tracfone will not give you a local number unless you are using a CDMA phone that works on the Verizon Network.

If most of the people you talk to are on Verizon Wireless the Verizon Prepaid plan can work well.  If you want to chat for more than just a couple of minutes with other Verizon users this can work very well.  I have three adult children that are all on Verizon.  I was talking to them with Skype and burning their minutes.  I bought a Verizon Prepaid phone and it cost me a dollar on the days I used it but it saved them a lot of minutes.

Messaging vs Chatting

If you use your phone to get messages to people then you will probably do OK with a Tracfone.  Send them texts or quick two minute phone calls.  If you want to talk on the phone like you do on a land line you will spend a lot of money on a Tracfone.  If the people you want to talk to are all on Verizon then a Verizon Prepaid Phone can work out well.

Net10 phones come with 300 to 600 free minutes when you activate them. The Net10 phones that show a phone card with them will come with 300 activation minutes and also you will get the minutes and service time from the Net10 card shown. Tracfone phones normally only come with 20 free minutes. Many Tracfones come with DMFL already included. I would try to purchase a Tracphone with DMFL.

Monthly Minimum Charge

The minimum you can keep a Tracfone in service for as little as $6.66 per month. You will spend at least $15 a month to maintain your Net10 phone active. This is not nearly as expensive the $45 a month which is the usual minimum for most contract phone companies.

Net10 texts will cost you 5 cents to send and receive. Tracfone texts will cost you .3 units so if you are buying 33 cent minutes it will be 11 cents to receive and send and if you are buying 6.6 cent minutes it will be 2.2 cents per text. Net10 has just released the Samsung R451c and the Samsung 401g which only charge 3.3 cents per text.

Is your Child Grounded?

If you take their cell phone away but you still want to be able to reach them give them a Tracfone with only 60 minutes on it and make them use it as a pager.  They have to call you back as soon as they get the call from another phone.  They are not allowed to call or text or answer any other calls.  You can easily check the call log on the phone.
